Merchia

If looking for a “just you, me and the sea” type of experience, well you just found it. Merchia is located on one of the most remote areas on the northeastern part of the island. This tiny beach with the fierce beauty has fine sand, deep clear waters and a few tamarisks that generously offer their shade to the very few people you will come to see here. On the far-right end, some fishermen houses make the whole scenery even more picturesque. Getting here is quite tricky, as most part of the dirt road is bumpy and harsh; that is exactly why when coming you should be well-equipped (cold water, snacks, umbrella, sunscreen, book or whatever else you consider essential for a day at the beach), as getting to a store from here means driving all the way back to the main road. In small distance you will find the chapel of Aghios Nikolaos (protector of the sailors), which is so beautiful and perfect for some romantic pictures with your better half to take back home and frame on your fireplace mantel.
